Today I have two really cool speakers from JBL that I want to share with you. So we have the Charge 3 and it’s little brother the Clip 2. These are both portable bluetooth wireless speakers that are also IPX7 Waterproof rated. So let’s get to the review.

First we’re going to discuss the Charge 3. This speaker is available in 5 colors and retails for under $130, which is a great value when you consider the features of this wireless speaker. Before we get into the features, let’s check out what’s included in the box.

First, of course we have the beautiful speaker in my favorite color, Red. Next we have the USB wall adapter. After that we have the USB to Micro USB charging cable and last but not least is the instruction guides and paperwork.

Now let’s chat about some of the features of the Charge 3. Besides being portable and wireless the Charge 3, much like it’s name, is cable of charging up your smartphones or tablets with its bank of 6,000mAH of battery power, which also allows for up to 20 hours of playtime by the pool. And speaking of the pool, did I already mention it was waterproof? Yep, it’s IPX-7 rated which means it can be held underwater at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

Let’s check out the physical speaker itself. It’s made of durable rubber and fabric and only weighs about 800 grams or 1.7 lbs. On the bottom we have a nice rubbery platform so it won’t roll away. Above that we have some LED status lights and on the front we have the power button, the JBL connect button (which allows you to link multiple JBL Connect enabled speakers to each other), the volume up and down buttons, the bluetooth button and the Play/Pause button which also answers phone calls. Oh yeah, this is a speakerphone too, did I mention that? It even works with Siri or Google Now.

On the back of the Speaker we have a sealed compartment for the ports like the Audio Auxiliary in, the micro usb port to charge the speaker, and the external USB charging port for charging your devices.

All these features are fine and dandy, but how does this speaker sound? If you want to find out, make sure you check out the video above for a live demonstration.

This is a great sounding speaker that will come in handy on your next trip to the pool, river, lake or beach this summer. And for being under $130, I think it’s a great buy. Now let’s check out, it’s little brother, the Clip 2.

The Clip 2 is also available in 5 colors and retails for under $60. Included with it is a micro USB charging cable and the instruction guides and paperwork.

Along with featuring wireless bluetooth, it also includes an integrated audio cable if you have a device that doesn’t feature bluetooth. Also integrated into this speaker is a carabineer clip which is great for attaching to your backpack, a bike or anything you see fit.

As far as buttons and ports go we have the bluetooth button, the charging port and the power button. On the other side we have the volume buttons and the Answer button which also turns the Clip 2 into a speakerphone. And of course like the Charge 2, it’s also IPX7 waterproof rated. If you want to see a demo of the sound quality, this is also available in the video above.

So as you can see the Clip 2 is packing some heat in its small form factor. It sounds good for it’s size and with 8 hours of audio playback plus the ability to sync two Clip speakers together, the $60 price tag is well worth it.
